I made my very first pie for Christmas! When we were making our Salt Dough Ornaments a few weeks ago, everyone laughed my improving because of my lack of a rolling-pin. I rolled up a Pam spray bottle in parchment paper and used it to roll out the dough. Hey, it worked at the time! But, worry no more. My lovely husband snuck one in my stocking on Christmas morning. I had to put it to good use.
I followed a random recipe I found online and tweaked it quite a bit. I should have kept track of what I did differently, but I honestly didn’t think it would be so tasty.
One of the main things I did was use my heart cookie cutter to cut the top pie crust into hearts. Then I simply layered them around the top to make it look extra pretty! It sure was tasty, and I had plenty of homemade caramel sauce left over to dip apples in for days.
